"Dredging up the past 2/3"

It's been a month since the lizard discovered a map leading extremely deep underwater, and he's done some serious breath holding training, doubling his record to over two hours. That would likely be plenty, and he thankfully didn't need to worry about water pressure thanks to his Ekryll heritage. When the day finally came, he went out into the ocean to directly above where the map showed, with a bright glowstick necklace on him for light. With some deep breathing, the lizard dove down, ready for a marathon of a dive...

Swimming all the way down took ages, and he even had to stop for a break at one point, but the lizard made it. Over a mile underwater, having been holding his breath for half an hour, nearly the only light around being from the glowstick. Thankfully, he hadn't missed his target, finding a large set of double doors next to an odd structure he recognized from the map. Some sort of pedestal was there, and as he remembered what the map had said about Ekryll blood, he experimentally put a hand on its top. He grunted in surprise and a bit of pain as he felt a prick on his hand, but he managed to keep it in place. He assumed it was testing his blood, and hoped he had enough Ekryll in him...

And, after a few seconds, it seemed he did! A beam of energy shot from the structure to the doors, lighting up lines on it and illuminating the surroundings far more than the glowstick was. When the beam eventually disappeared, the light on the doors remained, and they slowly swung open to allow him inside. The lizard waited for the lights to stop entirely, then hopped off the structure to swim through the doors. Something big had to be in there, he just knew it!
