Everything except for the houses on the left was built in the last 10 years. Its feeling less and less like a small town and more like a city, with sounds now echoing off the massive walls of newly constructed apartment buildings. I'm grateful they at least built stuff that has some character, but I can tell by the construction its going to rapidly decay. Many of the buildings built 12 to 15 years ago are already falling apart, one to such an extent it was covered in scaffolding for much of its 15 years of existence. Near Chapel street the cladding keeps falling off one of the town's major shopping centers. Building on the right is just foam cladding with a thin coat of stucco, which water easily penetrates.

I've never understand stood that. The architect it seems attempts to build in character first without considering the environment that the building will be in.
Either that or the owner insists on character not fitting the environment, which leads to rapid decay.
In my uneducated opinion anyway.
