Lizards - beware of cliches! (Thundercats)
There are things you should never, ever say in a movie/TV series/cartoon. Generally, bad things happen to you after you say them. Poor guards would only had to add how they only need one more day of service until retirement! Still, they could probably escape their fate if they manage to tell their names! Named characters have a better chance of survival.
If you couldn't tell already, I LOVE the new Thundercats cartoon. It is simply, awesome... Epic storytelling, compelling characters, great designs, beautiful animation.
And being a furry/scaly artist, I am especially liking the many lizards introduced. Not just their designs, but their story... It's a rare thing in a cartoon that the enemy race has a quite understandable motivation and are not truly evil. In the first episode already, Lion-O learns that the reason the lizards keep attacking Thundera is that they are starving - the cats have all the fertile land and resources, the other animals just fight over what's left. Not only that, but later in the episode, the lizard that Lion-O saved from being lynched by a mob repays his kindness by helping him escape.
All that makes them quite sympathetic to me to the point where I am sorry to see them taken out - it doesn't help that some of them are designed to look SOOO cute! Seriously, they are adorable. Nah, don't think I am criticizing the show because the poor lizards are often killed off... It's a great cartoon, and I cannot wait for the new episodes on every friday! And I hope we perhaps get toys of these types of lizard soldiers... They appeared a lot during episode 5. These two in particular were the guards of the Thundrillium mine's rear entrance.

Not to mention she talks like she's some badly programmed android:

Seriously, she sounds like a female Arnold Schwarzenegger. This was a major flaw of the old show, I heard they were trying to make them sound more epic and interesting... But it only worked for Mumm-Ra. In comparison, the mutants have much better voices, they actually sound like the animals they do represent.

Oh, I am certainly hoping so. They did mention they have children on the show, so there must be females. I hope we see them in one episode. Would be nice if some of them were as good warriors as say, Cheetara... to give her some worthy foes as well.
Btw, if you have seen episode 3 (Ramlak rising), you have probably seen that there are female fish-folk, and they do have breasts... So I am hoping female lizards will be equally sexy.
And if not, well, I can always draw these guys with Lizz and Zizzy from Flash Gordon. Let's say Mongo is in the neighbouring galaxy.

Oh, that'd rock.
You know, ever since episode 4. I am secretly hoping Slithe will put together a special anti-Thundercats Squad (containing Kamai, Cask and Saurro) who have the same number of members as the Thundercats, and call them The Terrible Thunderlizards (I loved that show). And of course, they would have a female member to be Cheetara's nemesis.

Nah, at the end when Panthro arrives with the Thundertank, you can see Kamai (though he is in shadows, you can recognize his shape and outline) trying to jump him (and get brained by Panthro's nunchackus). So he made it out alive, hopefully so did the others.
Thanks! I am glad you like them! And I'll see about that crossover pic - but first I'll wait and see whether they'll introduce any female lizards.
You should watch the show, it's awesome! Episode 7 just aired, with some incredible revelations about just where Mumm-Ra, the cats and all the other animals came from - plus we got to see lots of other species: jackals, monkeys, vultures, sharks, elephants...

Aranyosak :3 nagyon imádom ezeket a gyíkokat
Pont tegnap kezdtem el nézni a Thundercats -t ^_^ Youtube -on, s nagyon bejött
a karakterek kidolgozása nagyon részletes volt, s a színek +minden egyéb effekt is fantasztikus
bár, azokat a gyík harcosokat sajnáltam, abba a részbe amelyiket tegnyap néztem, folyton csak őket püfölték XD

Hát igen, folyton rájuk jár a rúd... főként miután Panthro is csatlakozik a csapathoz. Bár ki tudja, úgy hallom a 14. részben (írországban már leadták) a gyíkok fellázadnak Mumm-Ra ellen, aki ezért két új generálist szerez magának.
Van magyar felirat is, amúgy!

Yeah, and it show what a well-written cartoon TC is that this is explored in season 2 already, where Lion-O offers the defeated lizards the chance to lay down their guns and return to their families... and they do. After all, Mumm-Ra is using them the same way he used the cats thousands of years ago.
That said, poor guys still die by the dozen in major battles. I hope we do see some named ones that do survive and maybe even ally with the cats.

I noticed that these days it's always the morally/ethically sound, and thought-provoking, interesting shows that
die soon - IE the ones where it's not just Black and White, heroes are good villains are evil stuff. Some producers no doubt
think kids should only get cartoons that do not make them think or raise questions.
Thundercats suffered for many reasons - CN put it in a bad slot, therefore it had low ratings, and the toyline by Bandai tanked too.
Despite a huge fan campaign to keep it going, it was cancelled. And the same happened to Young Justice, Wolverine and the X-Men,
Spectacular Spiderman, Transformers Animated, Green lantern TAS... the list goes on.

Indeed! In the second part of the season, Lion-O and co actually went around defeating lizards and then telling them to go home to their families and abandon Mumm-Ra's cause. Worked for a while, until he sent his new lieutenants to kill anyone who deserted.
