Hello, it's time to put my thinking glasses on for this one.
TL;DR: I'm running out of ideas of what characters to do next. Some characters that I want don't have 3D models which prevents me from continuing eventually.
Throughout my time on FurAffinity, I have made about 70 distinct muscular models!
As I am taking a break from models, I've took a bit of a reflection on what models to do next. After evaluating, I actually do not have much new characters left to do. Based on my pace on working new models, which is roughly 1-2 weeks, my wishlist will likely be finished before the end of the year. Even if I reveal 1 new model per month, I will still run out of characters to do. Of course, new characters will be created overtime in the media, so there can be new desires. However, I'm eventually going be in a roadblock, because my wishlist is shrinking.
I can definitely continue to make renders of existing models, but I not really a fan of posing. 3D modeling is a way to express my skills, just like how people use 2D art to express their skills.
Unfortunately, there are some characters that I desperately want to do; however, there has never been a downloadable or good 3D model version of which I can edit. And this has bothered the heck out of me, so much that it actually motivated me less in editing 3D characters that are more accessible, like Pokemon.
A great example of this is Mordecai from Regular Show. I've been waiting for a good model of that character for a couple of years, and there was a good 3D model of him since last week. I literally rushed to work on that model, because I actually felt excited that I can actually edit this character!
I don't want to create a buff model for every single character. This is not what I want to do. I want to do characters that I desire because time is finite. There are characters that I want to do that can be tough, like avians and robots, but I'm uncertain in working on them.
Here are a couple excerpts from back in 2024 that are still relevant to me today:
"Ideally, I always wanted to fill in the gaps in creating buffed up characters that are uncommon in 3D art, mixed with my personal preferences."
"This was a side hobby, something that would not last forever."
And yes, I need a big pencil to make my art.
Thank you!
