In the cult, there's a special position called "children of the lamb", only given to those lucky enough to be raised as favorites of the leader. These honorary children of the lamb refer to him as "father" since the lamb was their main caregiver, and are likely to become immortal disciples of the lamb once they become of age.
In the beginning, my Lamb never put much thought into raising children; he became the leader of his flock at a very young age after all. But once he became of age and the red crown gave him access to the hatchery and mating tent, he became curious about the possibility of a next generation to keep the cult going, for practical reasons, of course.
Then BellaNotte was born, and everything changed for him. He became enamored with the idea of being a parent, and he finds joy in taking care of the younger children of the cult, spending entire months taking care of them without getting tired. Of course, it's impossible to raise every child hatched in his flock, so he'll babysit the children born after a rite of lust from time to time, giving them gifts and teaching them how to read.
But, every so often, he'll choose a specific child to raise as his own with no help from his followers, making them one of his "honorary children" and avoiding crusades for as long as possible to spend time with them.
