A piece that was long lost, rescued from a DVD backup.
Aztecs believed in duality of things, the Earth had two faces: The cosmic alligator which brings life in form of grass, maize and light. And the earth snake, which brings death, night and rotting. Life goes into death, Death brings life in an endless cycle.
In the middle, a codex stylized Lyceus burns some incense (copal) and a torch over a hill.
Please note that incidentally, the same image of the Pokémon's pokeball, in Aztec gylphs is the image of sky stars and night.

Thank you! Actually I studied how to make codex, it's more complex than you think. It's a limited color palette and like in Egyptian old art you must follow some guides that cannot be broken, like chars always must face left or right.
My user icon shows how would look an Anubis in Aztec codex art. Looong ears of course with a mix of human and animal traits.
