After one too many failed attempts at defeating Heket, my lamb got so frustrated that he had a screaming match with Narinder, who berated my lamb and sent him back to the mortal realm before he could decompress or calm down. In my AU, if a soul doesn't decompress or is given time to prepare for the transition to the world of the living, they become zombies or are left catatonic, like in the game.
In my Lamb's case, he's left feeling overstimulated and anxious. Add to that the fact that faith was low due to failing the crusade, his adoptive brother being in a catatonic state due to a poorly executed resurrection ritual, and lacking access to Anchordeep to heal him. Everything was just too much in that moment.
