XA-9 looked up at him with its knuckle-shaped head. "Father. You constructed me only to feel pain and woe."

Sully rolled his eyes. "Yeah, well, when it's your special day you'll get balloons too."

Technically it's my birthday and not Emmet's, which is July 2 as far as I can deduce. I'm not sure he knows or cares that the celebration isn't for him, however—the result is still that they all go down the hatch.
