"Roxie," Hermux squinted her eyes in confusion, "why are you hovering over my shoulder like that?"

"I am your Guardian Koala," her companion intoned, "and I'm here to show you... what the world would be like if you were never born!"

"Oh, really?" the otter replied with a chuckle. What had gotten Roxie in such a silly mood today? "Well I hope everyone's miserable without me."

"You'll see that they are... and it's not because it's 10 below out. It's because they MISS you... even though they don't KNOW you..."

Hermux couldn't help breaking up in giggles. "Okay okay, you can be my Guardian Koala! Though for your information the angel in that movie didn't talk like a spooky ghost."

Just then a familiar face crossed the bridge in front of them. "Oh hey Mux."

"Hey Alice," Hermux waved back. Alice was a genet who'd recently started at the aquarium. Hermux didn't blame her coworker for continuing on her way. It wasn't exactly a "stop and chat" kind of day, with most people scurrying to get out of the cold. Fortunately Hermux and her roommate had dressed for the season.

But the jig was up. Hermux looked up over her shoulder. "If I was never born, eh?"

"Um, er... my powers must have waned since I returned from the great beyond!"

You're supposed to an ANGEL, not a GHOST! the otter thought before laughing again. "Well, how about some fish tacos? They always help me get my powers back. But this time you buy. People who were never born don't pay for lunch."
