Trasfondo
Samuel Drake estaba en uno de los peores momentos de su vida. Su madre había muerto y su padre estaba en prisión tras un robo fallido. Ahora vivía con sus tíos, pero rara vez coincidía con ellos. La casa estaba casi siempre en silencio y lentamente se había acostumbrado a la soledad.
En la preparatoria era un estudiante destacado. Los maestros lo apreciaban por su dedicación y disciplina. Pero entre sus compañeros era “el raro”. Tenía pocos amigos y una sensación constante de no encajar.
Con el tiempo comenzó a sentir que no valía nada.
Durante una excursión escolar, unos matones decidieron jugarle una broma pesada. Lo dejaron perdido en el bosque, desorientado y sin saber cómo regresar. Fue entonces cuando escuchó una voz. Serena y antigua.
No sabe por qué decidió seguirla. Algo lo impulsaba. Finalmente atravesó una bruma espesa y fue transportado a un lugar en ruinas, cargado de una energía que parecía venir de una extraña jema en el centro e aquel salón. Allí encontró un artefacto antiguo, y la voz se presentó como Onix, el mentor de héroes.
Onix le habló de los Guardianes Esmeralda, de un poder antiguo destinado a proteger al planeta Gaeia y de una amenaza que se aproxima. Le advirtió que aceptar significaba asumir un precio final: un sacrificio inevitable.
Samuel aceptó. No por gloria o deseo por aventura. Aceptó porque pensó que, si debía sacrificarse algún día, al menos su vida significaría algo.
Ahora porta el poder esmeralda. Y aunque todavía duda de sí mismo, cada vez que alza el vuelo comprende que el verdadero desafío no es la amenaza que viene, sino aprender a creer que su vida ya tenía valor desde antes.
Viridian no teme al destino, pero en el fondo sabe que este no está del todo escrito aun...

Background
Samuel Drake was going through one of the worst periods of his life. His mother had died, and his father was in prison after a botched robbery. He now lived with his aunt and uncle, but rarely saw them. The house was almost always silent, and he had slowly grown accustomed to the solitude.
In high school, he was an outstanding student. The teachers appreciated him for his dedication and discipline. But among his classmates, he was "the weirdo." He had few friends and a constant feeling of not fitting in.

Over time, he began to feel worthless.
During a school trip, some bullies decided to play a cruel prank on him. They left him lost in the woods, disoriented and without knowing how to get back. It was then that he heard a voice. Serene and ancient.

He doesn't know why he decided to follow it. Something compelled him. Finally, he passed through a thick mist and was transported to a ruined place, charged with an energy that seemed to emanate from a strange gem in the center of the room. There he found an ancient artifact, and the voice introduced itself as Onix, the mentor of heroes.
Onix told him about the Emerald Guardians, about an ancient power destined to protect the planet Gaeia, and about an approaching threat. He warned him that accepting meant paying a final price, an inevitable sacrifice.

Samuel accepted. Not for glory or a thirst for adventure. He accepted because he thought that, if he had to sacrifice himself someday, at least his life would mean something.

Now he wields the emerald power. And though he still doubts himself, each time he takes flight he understands that the true challenge isn't the threat to come, but learning to believe that his life already had value.
Viridian doesn't fear destiny, but deep down he knows it isn't entirely written yet...
