So this was the first Original idea for my 'A World Under A World' Concept. Though this one didn't really tell much. It kinda was more generic starting off as a random event transformation that left them stuck in the middle of the woods as a chipmunk (Roleplay as First Person View). And they had to try figuring how to supposedly get back home. I kinda lost plot on where to continue on after Part 2. So i never continued this. My Raccoon version 'A Rift In a World Under A World' version is more a refresher of this original to give more details, depth, and kinda explain the reality of the strange animal-human-like lives of the animal world that lives similar to humans. Having their own little humanity like conflicts, etc. Mobs, trading, secret governments, yadadada. But all while hiding their true nature-like of being humans from their arch rivals. Humans. Playing dumb/stupid around them and acting like normal animals to pretend they aren't sentiant/smart like them.

So from a human's point of view. They just look like a squirrel in a tree doing daily fiddling around in the tree or whatever. But in reality to the squirrel. They might be spying and getting intel on such. Maybe how to break into the house, codes, files, passwords, etc, etc. I guess the best way to put this. Would be to combine Cats VS Dogs and 'Secret Life Of Pets' into one.

Is there still feral-living. Yes. There will be some animals that'll still live feral-like or tribal in a sense, smarter then normal and deadlier course. But less domestic in a sense that more city/town animals are. Course there is also some influx of human-like traits of running secret orginizations or mobs, etc as mentioned in 2part of my raccoon version with the whole 'rat mob' in LA.

So yeah. Kinda a interesting story take of humanity in animal form. More trickier and risky. But exciting living style.

And yes. The Human-animals do have tech that's slightly more advanced then humanity themselves. Reason being is mice/rats/shrews/etc have quite smaller bodies/hands/paws or whatever and this lets them use smaller tools that can be even micro-size. If you think humans sewing a egg up with robotic hands is our version of 'small' Think of a partical size version of that to mice. So this lets them have a much more advancement in tech for animals then humans can. It's not to far ahead. But enough that it gives the animal-humans a edge over humanity. So this allows them to have stealth cities in far locations for their own 'animal' cities for more domestic/friendlier locations.
