Well... it was 20 years ago today, February 23, 2006, that I first uploaded one of my songs to FurAffinity, and the internet in general. I may not spend a lot of time on FA anymore, but it's an important anniversary to me all the same. Maybe I never set the World Wide Web ablaze, but I've had some nice moments-- from having a couple of other furry artists cover songs I wrote, to discovering FAWM (a songwriting community) from another FA musician, to co-writing a song as part of  Drama_Armada that got over 100 favorites (something I once thought not possible for a music submission on FA lol).

It all started when I decided to share a song called "There Are Times...", which I'd written and recorded the first version of in 1993 (the version I uploaded to FA was a lo-fi recording from 1996). Now, to mark the 20th anniversary of that upload, I've recorded a new version of the song. Technically, it's my fourth stab at it-- after 1993 and 1996, I made another attempt at finding the arrangement that I could call the 'definitive' version in 2023, but it still didn't quite work.

A few weeks ago I noticed the upcoming anniversary and began working on yet another version-- before taking another listen to the 2023 version and realizing that if I removed a few elements and added the stuff that I liked most from the newer version, I might have a rendition that I could finally consider 'finished'. I don't know if I'll ever feel 100% comfortable with anything that has my voice on it, but I'm happy enough with this to put it out there to celebrate 20 years of sharing music on FA, and the internet. Thanks to everyone who's taken the time to listen to my offerings over the past two decades. It's meant a lot to me.
