Deep in the labs was a forest unlike any other. What seemed alive was in fact all an illusion constructed by man, but to what purpose?
New project!
Given technical circumstances, I am revisiting an old game idea of mine and trying to refine it and make it not awful! How daring. In the process of this, we have a nice new song for the first area I've come up with for the thing, a man-made forest of mechanical beasts and trees whose vines are as much metal as they are flora.
I played with a piano for realsies for the first time here, and am pretty happy with it! Improvised the melody as I went, and had a lot of fun! c: The blippies are also my first attempt at using 3xOsc, and Erik (blackhole12) helped me out and started teaching me some sidechaining basics while he worked magic over the mastering to even things out. It came out really nice, I think! O:

I really like the intro! The idea of a metal forest is cool, I imagine intense oxidized slag structures forming as moss and the oaks looking like gnarled conglomerations of wire and cable. I'm done with the song now and it was great. Your going to interupt it with battle sequences though... maybe not lol. Its good sam.
It also took like twice as long as normal! O: But I'm super happy with it and we're trying to get it top 5'd this week on NG and OH MY GAWD THAT HAPPENS AT 9 TONIGHT DIGWFKJGSJG -worries- I'm down to a 4.58 and blerg! CAN IT HAPPEN? nervous. Kitty wants a break! Something needs to go his way just once in a while, doesn't it?
Bleeeehhh it's my fault we were filming all weekend and when that wasn't happening I was Disgaea 4'in it all up in here 20 hours in four days what a loser forever alone etc.
BUT YEAH THE SONG I love it it is wonderful. If I can get the whole OST for the game like this I'll totally bandcamp that shiyit! And then you can help me convince people to buy the crap out of it! YEAH. YEAAAAAHHHHHH use those connections so legit too legit to quit like a chairstache I should not write comments at 3AM or this is what happennnnssssssss.

As for the timely production of this, I managed earlier in the week. I think Monday and Tuesday went to it, and it went on NG early early Wednesday so we could try and sneak our powers and get it into the top 5 because it totally doesn't suck but most of what's in the top 5 does! But we'll see.
Also, I made a Soundcloud thing, but haven't put jack on there yet. :| You know they have a two hour's worth of upload limit rule thing? :/

D4's OST is pretty good it seems. The CD I got may well be awesome but Media Player keeps focusing on the dischordant choirs of doom, which is impressive since there's only like two of those.

But yeah I cannot downvote #1 enough. The song sounds terrible to me and the kid who posted it is kinda a self-important douche and keeps going off on anyone who does anything shy of praise the thing. I normally don't bomb songs, but this guy really rubs me the wrong way. >:c

It's from every genre combined. It plays through the top 5 start to finish or the song after whichever one you left the page on, and the headphone things next to a song there can be used to play it specifically without going to the page or just turn shit off.

Cover and remix is the difference here. Remixes I respect. Remixes are hard! But covers I don't.
Covers that try to call themselves remix because they slapped Gross Beat or something onto the master track in an effort to sound techno that get down-voted to hell while the creator swear up and down he poured work into it and goes off on anyone who tells him it just sounds like he messed with a MIDI he found, I loathe. I loathe them in ways I never knew I was capable of loathing. And the kid rubs me all the wrong ways and pushes all the big red foreboding buttons of doom.
But yeah, my problem isn't even that! His synth sounds terrible, what he did to it is awful, his beat isn't fitting to the time signature he keeps swearing he adheres to, and whatever variance he swears is there is lacking outside of, again, Gross Beat or something taking a bad lead and making it sound even worse. I'm not sure how familiar you are with FL's assorted thingamawhatzits, but gross Beat is basically a thing that lets you turn anything into Daft Punk with weird volume and time gates. It's kinda neat! But this dork is relying on it for his originality, and that is a no go, sirs! D:<

It's always a MIDI they found. x3 Always. x.x; I just can't really get behind that sort of thing. :S It happens on FA , too. The worst is, a lot of FA folk don't at all credit the maker of the MIDI -- just like on VGmusic.com, they put their own name on it! It's ... yeah. It pretty much illegitimizes everything the rest of us do.

I don;'t find it all that different than anywhere else. I just get a lot more exposure there.
DA I rely on groups, FA dumb luck. NG I tend to get at least someone checking me out whenever I slap something on there, especially since the art portal gets so few submissions you can be on the front page for the better part of a day. Starting out here, I had a little luck, but generally unless I splash tits all over it I'm more or less ignored. :| Which for someone who dreams of making income off of literally anything he actually enjoys doing, is kind of a big deal, since no exposure = you continue not to exist. x.x;
As for time signatures, I've only messed with 4/4 and 3/4. Usually the former, but sometimes my brain poops out a 3/4 song and once I figure that out life gets easier. I've not dabbled with a 6/8 and am not totally sure what that sounds like, except my math brain says it's the same as 3/4. D:>

FA 's the same way, really. XD MIDI central! I had one person who used to watch me -- the MS paint icon was a dead giveaway, like, you'd go into their gallery and they were all uncredited MIDI rips.
