The Friedberger Warte, the Friedberg watchtower, was part of the medevial city fortrification of Frankfurt. It was on of several watchtowers on all main roads towards the city, a few kilometers outside of the city walls. These stations collected road tax from travellers but also warned the city from incoming enemies.
