[2026] Year of the Horse
Happy Year of the Horse!
After completing Year of the Snake last year, I have once again trawled through my character catalogue and redrawn six older characters to bring them into the modern day.
Ray, 2008 - One of the earliest characters I drew digitally. Ray was created as the protagonist of a theoretical animated movie that I referred to as 'Horse Nature', which a pictured as a musical following Ray as he escaped a farm into the wild and is confronted by a hunter, similar to the plots of Madagascar and Open Season. The original image of Ray only pictured his head, so this is the first time his body has been detailed in this way, but he is essentially unchanged from his original vision.
Peggy, 2009 - A pink pterippus who was envisioned as a supporting character in a fantasy adventure story I titled 'Mythical Madness', which followed a dragon, unicorn, troll and fairy as they embark on a quest to overthrow an tyrannical hydra, a goal Peggy would have assisted with. She is another character I never drew out fully and she is also the one who changed the most in design, having a new addition of minty green.
Frazil, 2011 - A unicorn-like monster from a world concept I originally just called 'Monster World' (which for future reference, I'm now referring to as 'Life After Monsters'). Frazil was one of the leaders of this world, being in charge of the polar Tundra Zone. Compared to his original design, Frazil is now much fluffier and he now has fangs to reinforce that he is a monster instead of a traditional unicorn.
Draconia Stormfeld, 2012 - Better known simply as Storm, Draconia Stormfeld was originally created as a My Little Pony OC named Dragon Storm, but was changed into the musical and romantic partner of my main musician OC, Vixavian. She's been gradually changing design for a long time, but her most recent changes are plantigrade legs and a few minor face details.
Dakota Jones, 2012 - A character who was originally created as the protagonist of a sci-fi story concept I called 'Furry Freedom'. She was the anonymous leader of a group of resistance mammals who aimed to overthrow a reptile dictatorship and was armed with a Blaster and Protector. In her redraw, her tools have been refined into a plasma pistol and a fleshed out shield generator, her jacket and pouches are new and she finally has a proper name instead of just "Horse", though she now has an alias she goes by, Beacon.
Lightning Stripe, 2018 - A mute earth pony created to be main MLP OC. She hasn't changed much, if at all, since her original drawings, though this is the first time she's been pictured outside of MLP style, so I took inspiration from G5 of MLP to interpret her in a more 3D space.
