From the way that other guy is talking, it sounds like there's quite a deep and complicated bureaucracy involved in that hereafter, and I only say that mainly because it seems that based on the “paperwork“ that needs to be filled out to make that happen then how exactly can someone get in contact with a family member or close friend or anything/something in between that, and how they might be able to see or visit them if they're not on the same plane of existence they're currently in And if they're not going to be able to use the names they had while they were alive how are they supposed to know for sure who is or isn't their family or friends if they don't use their they had in life if they they're only supposed to use the new ones they have to make up for themselves in their current afterlife or is there more politics involved besides that, and in all the other seven put together?
Finding family and loved ones is a bit like using an ancestry website, people are connected by how they influenced one another and they can be found by following that influence. People recognize each other not by name but by shared memories. But not everyone wants to be found by those in their lives, so there's a whole process to making sure people want to even meet in the first place.
From the way you're talking, it almost sounds like friendly relationships for people who find themselves in the hereafter of "The Astral Boughs." might have somewhat of a strained if not completely broken relationship to their family or friends depending on how they had lived their life before and might never try to reestablish or Reconnect that relationship and or connection they made before in their living life in their afterlife ever again unless they might be encouraged by some entity like an Angel or demon to do so Unless It was help them heal or grow from it in some natural way or harm them for some reason or another depending on who or what might insist for them to do so depending on whether it was really important or some other alternative ulterior motive which went along with it for some reason or another altogether?
Usually the idea is that someone needs to start fresh in order to truly discover themselves without the influences of their old life holding them back. There's usually not much desire to connect to loved ones from before until after a good amount of exploring, but eventually it does happen. This is just a place where taking as much time as possible to find out who you are and become your best self is prioritized over reconnecting with people, so that when you DO reconnect everyone will be in a much better place mentally. It's dangerous to seek out loved ones "when you're still raw" because your going to be discombobulated and unsure what to do, and the Boughs want you to figure yourself out without the people who you knew potentially pushing you places you don't need to go.
