Herbi-more & Carni-more Saga <<< PREV | FIRST | NEXT >>>It was all over the news. The CEO of the Horns Conglomerate had disappeared. The Board of Directors had refused to disclose details, but it didn't matter. Videos and photos were surfacing of Oguma outgrowing a particular patch of downtown one that sat right atop GigantiMax's Site A. On Zoozle, conspiracy theories shot up to the top of the search results, that there was someone going around, deliberately making giants and housing them somewhere secret. Biding their time until the time was right and they could be released into the world once more to put all of beastkind in a chokehold and bring about a new world order. Other sites claimed they had access to the chemical concoction that made the giants, but they'd never say what it was. Even the most junior of researchers knew that the concoction responsible was called Herbi-More and Carni-More.
Bill was more than a junior researcher, he knew what the chemical was. Ever since Pina, Louis, Legosi and Melon had burst onto the scene, he'd felt it in the back of his mind. A déjà vu, of sorts. When he closed his eyes he could see the Black Market, gazing through ethereal eyes at himself. Functionally the same beast that he was, yet Bill felt as though his doppelganger was a world away, trapped in another world or dreamscape. But these were only flashes of existence, brief moments witnessed through closed eyes. But when the tiger settled down for a night's rest? That's when this other world came alive.
The sights and smells of the Black Market made manifest. The smoky aromas of charred meat and burnt fat. The cocktail of animalistic pheremones given off by the product and patrons alike. How touts tempted him with offers of three for one on broth bones, and buy one get one free on rabbit's blood. But Bill kept going, kept wading through the overwhelming land of temptations until he found what he was looking for. A stall, set apart from the others. No meat on display, just the owner, a wolf, beckoning him over. From there, the dreams always went the same way. They spoke without words, and suddenly Bill was growing up above the stalls, above the nearby buildings. And just at the height of his carnal enjoyment, he woke up. Damp sheets greeted him, furthering his overall disappointment, as his body begged to return to the dream.
The more his visions and dreams of this other existence lasted, the more it consumed his thoughts. Oh, he needed it so bad. To be the biggest carnivore to ever exist, so big that not even the self-righteous Legosi could hold him down? It was an invigorating thought. And so, that was how Bill found himself deep in the Black Market. Twisting down unexplored alleyways away from the more well-known thoroughfare in favour of sketchier offerings.
