It's too bad this ended their friendship. He was probably going to be eaten by someone eventually. It may as well be someone she knows, and he gets to be part of their anniversary "celebration." I'm sure he'll give them a night to remember, and that's more than most prey's remembered. Plus, she's a ruminant herbivore - well "herbivore" - so he'll probably be around for a while. He'll be around for the morning after, and the following night, and the next night, and the next night, and the next night. I'm sure he'll be involved in all sorts of fun.
Yep, that would have been better. It's better to be vague and not rub it in their face. I imagine Howard took this picture for her, not knowing what its for. He was in the shower probably, getting ready for bed as she texted her Christine. He probably would have advised against sending it if he was following the conversation.
