The great wars of nature reserves. Chapter Fifteen: Good luck and terrible.
Unbeknownst to all the animals in Farthing land, old Fox and the three red foxes have prepared to depart for the silver foxes' territory. Rebel has already set off for the stone circle, where Laird used to be, pondering certain things. Laird, of course, believed Trey was dead, but his group of herds were still being watched very closely because of the danger of the Beast. But before Swift headed off, he said a few things to his lovely mate, Windy.
Swift: "If I don't return, you have to promise me some things, Windy. Make sure nothing happens to our cubs after they are born."
Windy: "No and don't worry, Swift. I promise nothing will happen to them."
Swift: "And also make sure they grow up and become both healthy and strong. And your family and relatives will sure help you so much."
Windy: "Yes, and I understand."
Swift: "And remember: no matter what happens to me, I will always be there for you in your memories and in your hearts."
Then he and Windy, probably, gave each other one last nuzzle, before he left and followed old Fox, Friendly and Pace. Windy watches as he left. But he stopped on the hill and looked behind him and looked at Windy for a moment. Windy smiled a little and nodded for him to continue, and Swift smiled a little for her too, until he did as she wanted and hurried away.
Windy: "Good luck, my dear love!"
A moment later she lay resting in her and Swift's earth, until she gets a visit from Dash - the fastest hare in all of White Deer Park, she thinks so. She called for Windy a little loudly, she came crawling out of her den and yawned a little big. But at the same time she was happy to see Dash. It had been a long time since she and Dash had had a chat together, since when they were young cubs of course. Even though Dash is Plucky's best runner and friend, she is still a good friend to Windy too.
Dash: "How do you feel about being alone for a while, Windy? Isn't it boring, huh?"
Windy: "No, quite the opposite, Dash. I'm used to being alone sometimes, especially when I left home in the first place."
Dash: "So did your brother and I, Windy."
Windy: "Oh yeah, my mom told me a little bit about how you and Plucky left White Deer Park and have been gone for the fall and winter, just because of his great love for this sweet vixen. Is that right?"
Dash: "Yes, of course it is, Windy. And I also got to meet Bolt, who became my first love at first sight, before Perry, Woody and Jester joined us in the group. Plucky has had to sacrifice a lot for Scarlet's sake. But then, after he happened to get away from us in the group for some reason, we never thought he would come back again."
Windy: "But he returned to you, didn't he?"
Dash: "Yes, of course, in town he met Scarlet again. And when he found out that he was going to be the father of their cubs, the sparks in his life were lit with both happiness and joy. That's why we decided to return to White Deer Park, for the future of their cubs."
Windy: "And at the same time settle the duel with Caeser and let her brother be released later."
Dash: "Exactly. Your brother is a brave red fox, and you should be proud of him."
Windy: "You know very well that I am. And I am also proud of my dearest mate, Swift, who is unafraid of the blue and gray foxes."
When Windy has finished speaking and there is a moment of silence, Dash thinks of something she has long wanted to ask Windy about, now that she is temporarily alone without Swift.
Dash: "Why are you letting Swift go with Fox and his son and grandson, anyway? And why did you two agree, considering that both he and you will have cubs when the grasses and flowers appear?"
Windy: "Dash. Swift is an adventurer and has lived alone his whole life, before he and I met. I know that both you and my families wanted well. But sometimes you have to accept your decisions, and he and I know that. He does this for the sake of our cubs, and it's exactly the same thing my dad did a long time ago."
Dash: "Yes, and it's true what you say."
Windy: "I also know he'll be fine. But if he didn't return and a fox is probably responsible, I'm prepared to forgive him."
Dash: "Do you know something, Windy?"
Windy: "About what, Dash?"
Dash: "You're both caring and kind-hearted, just like your grandmother."
Windy smiled at her friend and nodded slightly, agreeing. But suddenly Rosa came running to them and screamed and stopped in front of them.
Rosa: "Windy, Dash, come and hurry! It's a big emergency!"
Windy: "Rosa, what's happened?"
Rosa: "Weasel is wounded, Stoat and thirteen silver foxes are murdered!"
Both Windy and Dash stared at Rosa in pure surprise. But after a moment later, half of the animals had arrived at the murder scene. What Windy and Dash saw when they arrived was what Rosa said was actually true. There, all thirteen mixed blue and gray foxes lie in the snowfield, with lots of wounds on their bodies and blood all over. Weasel's family has already arrived, Measly was completely shattered. Luckily, Cleo had learned a little bit of medical care from humans, which she had found out before.
And she is currently trying to mend her mother's severed left wrist and sew it up a little, and wrap a little rag a little later. Measly sat down in front next to his beloved mate and held Weasel's right hand and tried to comfort her as much as he could, even though he was still crying in despair. Weasel winced a little from the pain and whined a little. But she was also crying and said to her dearest mate.
Weasel: "Oooh, Measly... Even though you wanted me well, I've been stupid to you all this time... huhuhuhuuu.... Can you ever forgive me...? Huhuhu..."
Measly: "Scch... It's okay, Weasel. Of course I forgive you, my gorgeous singer."
Measly replied humbly, holding her right hand close to his left cheek and caressing her arm a little with his left hand. Even old Vixen, Whisper, Scarlet, Windy, Dash and Shadow cry over the tragic event and feel sorry for both Weasel and Measly.
Windy: "Oh, poor Weasel. I know how her mate feels. Don't you, Grandma?"
Vixen: "Yes, Windy. And it was a terrible experience she's been through."
Whisper: "Worse than my beloved mate's vulnerability and fatigue."
Windy calmly walked up to Whisper and nuzzled her a little and tried to comfort her mother a little better. But soon Ranger, Charmer, Russet and Silvia appeared. He saw what had happened and could hardly believe his eyes. He has never seen such a macabre place in his entire life. But even worse it became when he saw a familiar blue fox lying on the snow field, with a missing right eye and three large scars on his right cheek.
Ranger: "Oh my foxes! Blaze!"
He quickly rushed to his brother and stopped in front of him, but strangely he was still conscious. Ranger tries to get him to say.
Ranger: "Blaze! Blaze! Blaze, it's me! Don't you recognize me?!"
When Blaze's left eye opened to half-closed and stared around a little and raised his head a little, he saw who it was that made him a little happy and said in a deep and sad voice.
Blaze: "Ranger... Ranger, my brother..."
Ranger's eyes filled with tears of sorrow and was a little happy to see his naughty one all these years. But still he asked Blaze the important things.
Ranger: "What has happened to you?"
Blaze: "T...t...the beast... ambush... we are... we are... betrayed..! Aaoohh..."

Ranger: "What has happened to you?"
Blaze: "T...t...the beast... ambush... we are... we are... betrayed..!"
That was Blaze's last word he could say, finally his left eye closed again and his head sank into the snow and died. Ranger's tears fell down his cheeks and sank down his head with his eyes closed and crying very broken. Charmer was also just as sad as her mate and calmly walked up to him and tried to comfort poor Ranger.
Charmer: "Ranger, I'm so sorry for your brother's death."
But Ranger's great sadness became even worse than she had imagined, especially when he growled with both sadness and anger at the same time.
Ranger: "That's one thing I can bear, Charmer..!"
Charmer: "And what is it, then?"
Ranger: "That I don't have to fight my own brother, of course. For what happens to my older brother, Bounder, and my father, I have to put up with. But this I will not accept what this monster cat did to Blaze! Never, ever!"
Then Ranger started crying very desperately, Charmer stood next to him and cuddled him and tried to calm him down as much as possible. Covin, who has come to a macabre place, has never seen Ranger cry so much. Even the rat - Spike, the mole - Mossy, two badgers, four hares and five adolescent foxes feel sorry for both Ranger and the weasels. Owl and three other birds have also come to the place and could not believe that it is possible either.
Perry: "What happened here?"
Whistler: "Looks like a slaughterhouse."
Speedy: "A real slaughterhouse."
Owl: "Didn't your children and grandchildren kill them, Vixen?"
Vixen: "Oh no, Owl! Mossy saw everything that happened here, without us all knowing. And then he went to the badgers and Measly and told them everything."
Hurkel: "Yes, and it's true what old Vixen says, Owl. I've never seen such a massacre in my life."
Shadow: "Exactly. How terribly macabre it was when we got here."
Dash: "But how could the Beast suddenly kill them, anyway?"
Mossy: "That's what I'll explain to you all how it is..."
Mossy said that when he arrived at the scene near the stream, he didn't just see Weasel being injured, or the female stoat being murdered. No, he also saw the Beast fighting and slaughtering the silver foxes one by one, until all thirteen were lying on the snow, his whole body almost bloody, but also got some scratches from the fox troop. But the Beast said something that Mossy heard what he said.
The Beast: "Never will any animal use me as some kind of tool against the cunning red foxes! Never! From now on, I'm the one who decides! And I will kill every animal in this nature reserve! Including all the stags and all the foxes! I am invulnerable and nothing can stop me! Nothing!"
Then the Beast laughed so evilly and walked away leaving the murder scene. When he was gone, Mossy hurried to Hurkel and told him everything and what had happened. But after Mossy had finished telling him, everyone became completely and utterly worried. Even Covin realized that this monster cat is truly deadly.
Owl: "For once, I agree with you, Covin."
Whisper: "What can we doing now, Vixen?"
Vixen: "I don't know, Whisper. I really don't. Fox, Swift, Friendly, and Pace aren't here. And they don't even know about this."
Dash: "No, they don't."
Bolt: "It looks dark."
Spike: "Much darker than that, Bolt."
Scarlet: "Oh, if only Plucky had been here."
Diamond: "Yeah, my dad would have probably figured something out."
Valiant: "Or maybe our brother had figured something out. Or what, Bold?"
But to his surprise, he discovered that little Bold was gone. Some animal friends also agreed and looked around. But Russet discovered to her horror that Silvia was also gone. Some female foxes moved and looked around a bit. Shadow, Hurkel and Dash also help and search for the two disappearing adolescent foxes.
Dash: "How could both Silvia and little Bold just disappear like that!"
Russet: "Good question, Dash. But I think they must have run away during our chat about this."
Scarlet: "But where could they have gone? Bold! Bold!"
Windy: "Look there! Some footprints!"
Scarlet, Russet, old Vixen, Covin, Mossy, Spike, Hurkel and Shadow walked up to Windy and saw some large paw prints from a lynx, next to a couple of smaller paw prints from the foxes. Covin sees where the trail leads. But when he looks at the mountains to the silver foxes' territory, he realizes where they are headed.
Covin: "Oh my gosh...!"
Hurkel: "What's that about?"
Bolt: "Is something crazy going on?"
Covin: "Yes, and I think I know whose Lynx is going to attack. In fact, both little Bold and Silvia have been planning to go and warn old Fox, right now!"
Russet: "What!"
Scarlet: "What are you saying?!"
Dash: "Are the two young foxes following the Beast?"
Hurkel: "To the silver foxes' territory?"
Owl: "Ohooo!!!"
Windy: "It's so terrible!"
Mossy: "Oh no, not that!"
Everyone was puzzled by Covin's theory. Even Ranger, Charmer, Owl, Whistler, Speedy, Perry and the weasels agree. Vixen walked calmly forward and looked at the mountains and was very worried. Charmer calmly walked over to her mother and also looked at the mountains and is just as worried as she is.
Charmer: "They'll be fine, mom. I know they will."
Vixen: "I hope you're right, Charmer. May the faith of hope help them."
But Ranger, who has calmed down after all the crying grief, looks at both Charmer and Vixen, then at the mountains and begins to get some thoughts in his mind. But Covin's theory was completely correct. Little Bold and Silvia have heard everything from Mossy's story, and have just happened to find the beast's tracks and they have already set off for the silver foxes' territory, to warn old Fox and everyone in time.
Little Bold: "Actually, you shouldn't come with me, Silvia!"
Silvia: "But if the Beast has set out on the fox troop, he might set out on my grandfather too, little Bold! That's why I want to come with you and warn them!"
Little Bold: "Well, maybe you're right! But we'll probably be there in about a few minutes at least, Silvia!"
Silvia: "Oh, I hope we're not late!"
It's not just little Bold and Silvia who are running and chasing after the Beast's footsteps. The mysterious stag has also started to follow them a little discreetly and didn't want to intervene yet. But what happens next, you will all find out in the next exciting chapter.
