Hiya everyone, hope you all like the daemons, honestly if I was to start a new chaos force it would be Slaanesh Chaos Space Marines, if I can't do Slaanesh daemons with traitor astartes in Horus Heresy I will do 3rd edition Chaos Space Marines Emperors Children. I found these two models and instantly thought that these are perfect for daemons, I plan on using the snake lady as a Daemon Princess and the winged one as a Keeper of Secrets.^^ I painted the base part because I remember the cover art of the Daemon World novel, the green background with the Slaanesh daemon front and center.
Also no worries, nothing inappropriate is exposed on the miniatures.^^
There is something I do want to talk about too, I honestly feel many simply do not understand Slaanesh. The NSFW aspect of Slaanesh is unfortunetly the first and at times only thing others think about, but there is far more to Slaanesh then many realize, sure she has her thrills but there is a lot more to She Who Thirsts than many realize.
The Outer Circle did a great video on this, I will post a link here if you want to check it out: https://youtu.be/YnlYVnSPKLo?si=jOfZu4Q-8XR3mqsT
Honestly I am convinced GW hates Slaanesh, I mean look at the terrible Keeper of Secrets and compare it to the older models as a great example, heck the old Forge World miniature was basically perfect.
Many fail to see that Slaanesh represents so many more things such as greed, perfection, self-gratification and excess alongside the whole pleasure and pain side. You are just as likely to find a painter or artist alongside warriors in her ranks. A painter or sculpter trying to make a piece of art but goes to far with how they do it to a warrior trying to perfect their technique and means of fighting and everything inbetween.
The whole notion of pleasure worlds is okay but they suck because it has been too focused on. It even states lore wise the Emperor's Children are more focused on their indulgence and don't care much for expanding their numbers which I call bs, otherwise there would be nothing left of the 3rd by now. There are a few great Slaaneshi characters that do exist that really show off some possibilities, you have Lucius the Eternal who is a great duelist, Lady Charybdia who drained essencess of Keepers of Secrets to rule a world and spread influence before being ascended to daemonhood as a Daemon Princess(if I remember correctly) and Dechala the Denied One in Fantasy.
Real quick, there is another great video I recommend checking out when it comes to Slaanesh, I'll leave it right here: https://youtu.be/IX7t-x32654?si=3M9lOi70Ph_nVBNF
When I started in 40k, my fav list was:
1. Tzeentch
2. Khorne
3. Slaanesh
4. Malal
5. Nurgle
And now Slaanesh and Tzeentch share my number one spot, sometimes Slaanesh overtakes Tzeentch actually.
Matter a fact the other Chaos Gods actually have a hidden fear of Slaanesh, because Slaanesh can have aspects of them but take it a step further. For example a Khorne warrior will enjoy making the kill, but the pleasure if felt and pain will fuel Slaanesh, same if they are trying to make the perfect strike to kill. A sorcerer trying to perfect their spellcasting more could also attract She Who Thirsts attention and someone trying to better endurence may appeal to her as well. All of this while Slaanesh often provides her servants with greater speed and reflexes.
That's the thing, Slaanesh takes the typical stride of the others and makes it part of her alignment to suit hers and your own personal goals. Sure the depravit, debauchery and all that is still there, but if you really think about it, Slaanesh is more about personal growth and enjoying it. Many do take it to extremes sure but that is pretty normal.
