"Hohoho!! HAAAPY BIRTHDAAAY!"
Meet Humphery, a jolly state of the art animatronic for a local theme park made to celebrate birthdays! In-universe, he has a diet that consists of nothing but cake and ice cream and he's even programmed to have a stomachache from all the sweets from all the kids' birthday parties! However, after years of service, his adaptive AI has made him gain self-awareness; and when the park starts to experience strange disappearances, he slowly uncovers the dark secrets of his seemingly innocent origins.
If it hasn't been made obvious, Humphery is my take on the concept of mascot horror, combining inspiration from "Five Nights at Freddy's" and the ARG "Welcome Home". What would start as a horror story with the novel concept of being the cute mascot that experiences his friends slowly turn into monsters becomes more cerebral in general, turning into something akin to "Ghost in the Shell". Specifically the Mamoru Oshii film, not Stand Alone Complex, or the live action film. It also explores the concept of adaptive AI and the classic sci-fi trope of "what happens when man enters into God's domain?"
Make of it what you will and enjoy!
