Walking through the cities on America’s east coast, a wolf with brown fur and steel whiskers carried a satchel over his shoulder and kept his black hood up. On his mind was the big offer he got at a sports bar; he wasn’t shocked someone shady would recognize him, he just needed work that paid. He looked at each building that he passed, usually factories or processing plants. When he found the one for packing fish, he walked to the back side and knocked on the door.
The door opened, and he was met immediately with a sawed-off aimed at his chest. “Ah, Watchwell.” The elk said, “At least you came when you said.”
“Sorry I couldn’t be EARLY this time.” Watch started to walk in, but the Elk blocked his path, “Does your man need a smuggler or not?”
The elk glared at him for a moment, a snort escaping him.
“If you really want to throw down, just be ready to not get back up.”
The elk kept glaring, and then stood aside.
Watch rolled his eyes after passing the elk, just another guy trying to seem tough in front of him. The wolf walked through the plant and then came over to the delivery section. There waiting was a zebra, and two otters, each wearing clothes as a large duffel bag rested on a conveyor belt. Watch could guess these guys were armed, but that’s nothing too new. He just kept walking up, and looked between the three of them.
“Glad my guy found you,” the zebra said, “Got something special I need shipped. Something special for a friend.”
“Use the post office.” Watchwell said, “What makes this worth the price you’re paying for this gig?”
“You should know in this line of work.” The Zebra said, “Don’t ask questions, get it over there, and we’ll pay you handsomely.” Then he kicked the dufflebag to the middle of the floor.
Watch looked at the bag, and then walked toward it, “And the money? You know how I work, I want at least half of it up front.”
At the statement, one of the otters threw him a thick roll of dollars, a ball so large that the wolf needed both hands to hold it. He unrolled the stack, and flipped his fingers through to count it. “So, we got a deal?” the zebra says, “Or do we got other problems?”
“Fine.” Watch said, and grabbed the duffle bag, “Where do you want this?”
“California, China Town, Corner of Zhou and Main.”
Watch just nodded, and walked for the door again, “It’ll get there, You did your part, so I will do mine.” Then he left and walked for the train yards.
