In the small town of Runderveen, a group of teenage misfits found each other at school, and became friends. All but one were taurs, and so, the name Taur Club stuck around. So, who's in it?
The Australian Shepherd is an energetic teenager. Her family is in a "herders for hire" business, helping the farmers in the region out to herd their cattle when necessary, and they have a reputation they do their job better than shepherding dogs. Puk, however, isn't too thrilled to get into the family business. She's quite a good student and wants to become a teacher. She's Floris' girlfriend, and she loves to train with him.
The teenage taur has the heart of a warrior and would be the class jock ... if he wasn't a bunny. No matter how much he works out and builds up muscle, he can't get rid of his cure appearance, especially his lower body and short stature as a taur. That gave him a healthy sense of humility. It hasn't stopped him from striving to excel in sports, and has even picked up some boxing. His friends will cheer him on whenever he's joining a boxing competition. And bullies may have found out the hard way not to mess with Floris' friends...
The only biped in the group. She's the youngest of her family. Lotte always enjoyed the routine that living on a farm offers, even though it was hard work sometimes. Unlike her brothers, Lotte isn't much about book smarts; she finds it hard to concentrate on reading, especially because she has dyslexia. Despite that, she is a quick learner, and even as a kid she was capable of doing many different errands around the farm. In her heart there's a deep desire to become a taur, just like her friends, to become more like the cows their family farm is herding and which she loves. She has a crush on Trijntje, who lives on the farm next door.
The only child of the Dravers family. Trijtje is a particularly small pony-taur, shorter than most bipeds even. The unfortunate combination of being short and her taur physique gives her problems sometimes, but a loving family and girlfriend help her through it. She seems to be destined to take over her parents' horse farm when she's old enough, though she could definitely use some assistance with that. Fortunately, her girlfriend Lotte would be all too willing to help.
Neema is a child of refugees from Rwanda. She a rare giraffe centaur, built her entire life up in the Netherlands in Runderveen. Always an outsider, but Lotte's friends invited her into her club of taurs, a place where for the first time, she feels like she belongs somewhere. Neema loves books and wants to become a writer.
Jochem is a goat-taur, whose hind legs never fully grown due to a birth defect, and has to walk around with a wheelchair. That doesn't deter him from being active, and often trains together with his fully able bodied taur friends Puk and Floris. He wants to help other people with handicaps like him, and wants to get into the field of ergonomics, so he can help others with special equipment for their special needs, just like he has.
I have a weak spot for taurs...
But I had a lot of fun to work out who Lotte's friends are. And I still don't have that many taurs in my cast of characters, so... I had to compensate, kinda 😉
