I really wanted to be an ant so I had to make it happen. And felt like I should post it
Making a sorta dark setting where some mad scientist turns people into bugs, so I have been leaning into that a bit for this to make the red text feel threatening :>
I have already started writing help me XD

Being the community's bug guy, I must say PEAK.
Nice ant and I like the really "sciency" theming.
Though, I always find it funny how people have to add non-insect animal bits to the bug anthro.
That head is clearly meant for either a mammal or a reptilian, lol.
Anyway, nice art.

I figured you may like it! And of course I had to go for a sciency theme. its fun to explore!
And yes, thats how it often goes. I actually have let a lot of bug anatomy dictate how I drew the body. Even the head! I stylised it to be more pointier feeling overall! But it is still anthropomorphised in a way I do a lot of creatures!
And honestly you can chalk it up to the fact that she did, in fact, used to be a mammal. And DNA can do funny things when you rewrite it!
BUT ALSO
You wouldn't be amiss for drawing her head more buglike because its supposed to feel like a weird inbetween, which is really hard to get right, especially with how I draw eyes generally, it was hard to achieve the look that works for my style, feels buggy enough and works for how I am used to doing expressions!
I Think the weirder fact is that the neck connects to the bottom of the head rather than the back and that her mouth opens DOWN rather than sideways!
Cartoonish liberties yanno!

Yeah, its always a balance!
The "she used to be a mammal" is actually an explanation I also use for why my anthro bugs have some.......mammalian features.
Though, I have definetly been wanting to make my bugs look a bit more bug-like.
There is is this anthro bug character that I think is the absolute PEAK of anthro bug designs and I want my designs to get a bit more bug-like like them.
This is the character btw: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/62642641/ and https://www.furaffinity.net/view/51553528/
I can't tell you how much I ADORE this design. Its THE BEST bug anthro I have seen and I am AWFUL at picking favorites, so something has to really stand out to make me choose one.

It's a tough balance. But that being said you could genuinely style her as having an actual ant head and it would still be canon. I just went with what would work for me.
But that's just because of how shapes feel for when I draw. I haven't experimented a tonne with different head shapes and really it's a me issue.
But it would still be fun to see her drawn in that way!
Bugs are best.
And yes those designs are great. I'd LOVE to get good at that kind of anatomy for bugs.its so unique andnso rare.
Honestly my biggest inspiration for doing it this way was Kyrio and the way I've seen those bugs being drawn
It's simple yet satisfying
