...When Suddenly, Dog! (Human to Feral Dog TF Sequence)
The artist is Viotailed and can be found on Twitter/X.
I was very happy with how this turned out. Look at how cute she is! Everyone with whom I've shared this artwork has enjoyed it, and I'm right there with them.
When Viotailed and I were planning and illustrating this piece step by step, it was my goal to explore not just one, but a few distinct forms for Pancakes, and how lovable they can possibly be. I want her to have a wide appeal not just to people who exclusively like anthro art, but also feral art, as well as people who like human art or even have no interest in furry art at all! Everybody should be able to like her. I went as far as to bestow the human version of Pancakes with her own name, Sasha. I also wanted it this way because I have broader aesthetic interests than a lot of furries, I find, and I sit at a relatively lonely table when it comes to my sincere appreciation for and adoration of humans. They can be cute, too, and I wish more people could see it! Hopefully, this work serves as some stone proof.
The piece also calls back to the ancient (for the Internet) "furry scale" artwork originally created by 501kabi and later reworked into a viral meme. The meme, replacing the nature documentary-like captions of the original with blunt, literal descriptions of what appears in the artwork and a slur for good measure, appears to have been propagated at least in part by furry haters at first, but it has since been reappraised, restored, and reinvented by a wiser, more appreciative audience, including myself. Some of the first works of transformation art I ever loved were derivatives of the furry scale, and I continue to hold a preference for them in my adult life. Simply put, I like it when the humans take a detour into the Anthro Kingdom before they emerge in the feral territory, rather than go straight there. It makes my brain feel good!
One final note: I think there should be more Black and POC characters in TF art and furry art as a whole, as well as Black-coded and POC-coded characters. Early on in Pancakes's existence, I decided to make her Black because I sought to make representation a little better, at least in my own small way. Black women can be just as cute and sweet and desirable as any other kind of women. I hope that in the future, Sasha and Pancakes inspire more people to create and lavish POC characters with art and love, and that this kindness in turn invites more people of color into the furry and art communities.
Thank you all for reading. Cheers!

Thank you very much! It means a lot to me. I've actually been on FurAffinity for a few years now, but I needed a place to keep all the art of my truesona, so I opened this account. I plan to use it primarily, if not exclusively to post my commissions publicly, as well as my own artwork if I'm sufficiently proud of it, and to communicate with artists.
Omggg I totally agree with every part of the description!!! Like (1) that detour into Anthro-ville is such a fun thing to include, but also (2) it's so, so nice to see representation in furry art and TF art. Sadly it's distressingly rare, so it's always a delight to see a character who looks a little tiny bit like me show up every now and then (especially in adorable art like this pic)!!!
Thank you! It is nice to hear from you. Glad to know you like this piece and that you see a bit of yourself in this character. Let me assure you that you have not seen the last of her! In fact, there is already more art of her by a very talented artist called Donitkitt in my Favorites gallery, and if you haven’t perused it by now, I recommend you do. Fair warning that some of the artwork is NSFW, however.
Two furry TF artists who have been good at representing women of color in the past are KoopaCap and SharkRags. They portray these women with the love, grace, and beauty they deserve, and I believe they should have praise singled out for this considering that white TF fans might not notice otherwise. Their strides toward even representation should be mirrored by others. Unfortunately, I don’t know of any similar artists to recommend you who often draw men and nonbinary people of color, but I would appreciate recommendations.
