Galaxy’s Lombax Rebel Rivet, struts into her hideout and lab with a proud and satisfied look in her eyes. In her arms, a large haul of secret hard drives that have been raided from one of Emperor Nefarious’s strongholds. Fellow rebel “The Shadow” tipped her off to this research lab, where supposedly new and strange R&D developments were taking place. She places the drives on her workbench and lets out a cheery huff, very pleased with herself.
“Hehehe, Right on! This should prove to be invaluable for the war effort~ I can’t wait to tell the others!” Rivet stretches her arms behind her head with her cute signature grin. “...But I should probably scan and archive these first, just in case something happens.”
Rivet takes a moment for a quick shower and changes into her comfortable athletic getup. Shes even leaves her boots off. None of the Morts were around, so she wasn’t embarrassed by it. She pops in one of the drives into her super computer and runs a few commands on the keyboard.
“Alright Nefarious, lets see what kind of weird things your developing in that research lab!”
She hits the enter key and looks up toward her main display, which took up a large portion of the wall. Rivet preferred to use the big monitor for analyzing data, because it was easier to read at a distance while she works on other things. However what she saw on the screen was quite puzzling indeed.
A barrage of colorful rings of orange red and white, the colors of the empire. Rotating and pulsating. First slow, then fast, then slow again. All while strange audio that she couldn’t quite discern coming from the speakers.
Rivet folded her arms with a confused look on her face. She had no Idea WHAT to make of this thing, but then it quickly occurred to her. She gasped.
“Oh No! This must be some kind of prototype brainwashing program! They probably plan on using it to convert captured rebels! That’s Horrible!”
Rivet was disgusted, clenching her fists with rage toward the emperor, but then she cracked a sly smile and ran a few more commands on the keyboard.
“its a good this I checked into this before sending it to the others! Id better copy a full image of this so we can appropriately develop our own counter measures! Hehehe, sorry Nefarious, looks like your little experiment is going to completely fail!!”
Rivet begins to run the imaging software and waits, feeling victorious.
45 MINUTES LATER
A dumb stare of absent bliss. An unflattering and goofy open mouthed grin. Colors in her eyes and spittle on her chin. She wasn’t aware of when it happened, she didn’t care. Looking, smiling, drooling, giggling, looking, smiling, drooling… drooling? Why am I…
The realization hit her like an omni-wrentch to the head! Quickly piecing together what was even happening!
“GAH! W-wha! I… im… what is… THE PROGRAM!”
As the gears slowly turn in Rivets head, she wills the strength to clench her teeth and snap her eyes shut tightly. Violently ripping her gaze away from the screen, causing some drool to fly off her lip. Rivet had felt stupid for underestimating this program. She wasn’t even planning on being in the same room while the imaging processes took place! It somehow just… happened.
Rivet struggles to regain some of her mental fortitude, and though she wasn’t looking at the hypnotic waves, something else now caught her attention. The audio. Undecipherable at first, but now was clear as day through her big Lombax ears.
“Rebellion Bad, Empire Good”
“Hhhhnnnggggrr… n-NO!”
“Whos a silly rebel? Is is you? Its okay to admit it. The emperor will forgive you. Say your a silly rebel.”
The audio was like a maddening tickling sensation deep in Rivets ears. A subtle grin forms on her lips in response.
“Gggrrrr… hehe… i'm.. i-i'm a sil- s-silly.. r-reb-bel… hehe”
Deep in Rivets mind she knew that something was wrong, but was unsure what. The mental tingling was too great to ignore.
“That’s a good girl! Keep your eyes on the screen please silly rebel. No resistance, no struggling, there is no point.”
“heh.. heh… n-no… point?”
Rivet was so very confused, why was she struggling again? What happened to the pretty colors? She was taking a liking to the tickling in her ears.
“No point. Look at the screen silly rebel…”
Rivet couldn’t help herself. She turns her head with a worried look and ever so slightly opens her eyes. Almost as if anticipating this, the colors on the screen start to pulsate much more rapidly. Trying to ensure that the Lombax doesn’t try and look away again.
As this happens, her left eye snaps open almost instantly, filling once again with those soothing visuals, her other eye still squinted but not too far behind.
“Good Girl! You’re such a good girl. Your very good at this aren’t you?”
“I-i'm… y-yeah… I guess… I am...”
“Rebellion Bad, Empire Good. Can we get a smile out of you? Show me just how silly of a rebel you really are…”
Both Rivet’s eyes now focused on the screen yet again, but the last few strands of will trying desperately to wince them shut. Trying desperately to force down her ever growing smile, which made her look ridiculous. She couldn’t deny how wonderful it felt to stop thinking, to keep starring, to keep listening to the sounds that tickled her ear drums. It was delightful. Yet her fighter instincts tried to hold on regardless.
“Hehe… n-no no.. hehehe w-wait hold on… hehe hold-”
“Nice. Big. Smile.”
DING DING DING!
Those last words was like a light switch flipping in Rivet’s mind. Her smile unnaturally pushed at the furthest corners of her adorable face. Her eyes completely encapsulated by the pulsating colors with no whites visible whatsoever. Drool dribbling down her chin yet again. No resistance, no thoughts, fully listening, wrapped in ecstasy. She was completely hypnotized and brainwashed, and she was happy about it.
“Ahh there she is! Look at that smile! Now doesn’t that feel so much better?”
“Haha, yeah~…”
“You just needed some more time in the oven, didn’t you?”
“Heheh… yup~.”
“Good girl. Now then, who wants to return to Zardoom prison??”
Rivet’s smile almost widens even further at this comment and raises her hand without hesitation.
“AH ME ME I DO!~”
“Good girl. You like it there don’t you? You like the funny games and activities that silly rebels get to do there, don’t you?”
Rivet merely shakes her head up and down enthusiastically. Waving her tail back and fourth in excitement.
“That’s Right. Type in the coordinates to your base now, silly rebel.”
Rivet nearly falls over herself to type in the detailed coordinates to her exact location. Her fingers type rapidly, and hits enter.
“Good. You’re such a good silly rebel.”
“Haha… thaaaaanks~”
“Here is your reward, please sit and wait patiently until a squad of empire commandos arrive to pick you up. Remember silly rebel… Rebellion Bad, Empire Good. Sit, Stare, Smile, Drool. Smiling is a show of complacence. Drooling is a sign of obedience. Resisting is pointless, so don’t even try. The commandos will pick you up shortly.”
With that, the screen pulsates its most intense setting yet. Blasting all of Rivet’s senses. She loved it.
She sat her butt on the floor with her legs stretched out watching the show. Flexing her feet and wiggling her toes out of pure ecstasy. She was about to have the best time ever at Zardoom prison. She couldn’t wait to get there so she could not think, and not resist. After all, Rebellion was bad, and the Empire was good.
She cant recall why she left Zardoom in the first place. It don’t matter. She's is going back were she belongs, and she was all too happy about it.
