great warrior (updated version)
(here you can see the second part of this scene)
He wasn't (again :D)
Unlike the previous piece, this is not a redrawing, but only a partially changed version, since the original was not bad, but I didn't like how Rattmarr looked there, so I decided to correct some details of his appearance.
I'm especially happy that now his gaze is just very tired, without a hint of the arrogant irritation of the original version. Before, I could almost hear him saying, “Hey, can you just stuff your mouth with meat and leave me alone!” <)
Otherwise, it's not perfect, but I think it would be easier for me to fully redraw it than to try to perfect what I have.
And since the previous version was published six months ago (oh god), I think now I should say a little bit about what connects these two guys.
As I wrote before, Marr had to go through some unpleasant adventures in the cursed lands. All the creatures he met there were larger and stronger than him, and almost everyone was not averse to eating him. And those who didn't want to eat him saw him as a source of other benefits. Zigg was the only one who showed friendliness, but he did not save Marr from problems, but only added new ones.
Zigg (his name of the face is Largemouth) lived in a relatively peaceful and safe part of the cursed lands. It's unlikely that this place was his homeland, although it possible that the curse came here much later than he did. In any case, before meeting Marr, Zigg had hardly left his home for many decades and only went to the nearest forest for mushrooms. He got Marr out of trouble, and then followed him out of boredom and loneliness. In his old age, he was tired of monotony and wanted adventures, and Marr turned out to be almost the first traveler who aroused his sympathy and trust. Marr tried to dissuade Zigg from a risk, but without much success. And when the first serious difficulties arose and Zigg began to feel uncertainty and fear, it was too late to send him back. Marr was afraid that he would not be able to return home alone. And although Zigg was more of a hindrance than a help, Marr continued to drag him along, protect him and take care of his comfort. He couldn't afford to leave the old chap to his fate. And didn't want to, because he actually needed a companion, even one like Zigg. Or perhars especially one like Zigg.
Zigg got on Marr's nerves with his recklessness and rudeness. He called his new friend's misfortunes a good adventure and that alone was enough. But at the same time, he involuntarily aroused compassion. Blind, helpless, and clueless, Zigg was even more vulnerable in the face of any danger, and Marr felt responsible for his life. And these conflicting feelings eventually turned into sympathy. Probably because that's Zigg's nature, he can be unbearable, but it's hard not to love him. And because Zigg was someone Marr could talk to (and sing with!), someone who he had to worry about, who helped him live, not just survive. Someone who needed Marr.
Here Zigg wants to tell Marr another story. One of hundreds of absurd and obviously fictional stories about misadventures he never experienced. And similar to what Marr recently went through. His words hurt, but he doesn't understand it. He's as simple-minded and goofy as he is tactless, and it's impossible to be angry with him. Moreover, looking at him, it's hard not to smile.
And I don't know about the others, but Marr is ready to forgive the old geezer anything for bringing such a simple and pleasant thing as laughter to this dark period of his life.
Thanks for your attention! 🍀
