Transferals
Transferals are kind of Transformers with their main form of an animal and a lack of android (robot) form. Often they possess an alternative energy accumulation scheme therefore being capable of living in corresponding type of environment without supporting infrastructure. A typical Transferal can transform into vehicle or airboat, sometimes capable of carrying cargo or a creature of fitting size.
Power supply
Transferals utilize the sources of energy available in the environment: active chemicals, biological matter, other robotic life, solar power - usually one specific type. Energon can also be consumed directly.
Clustering
Transferals in wild can be sole or join into clusters (packs). Universal Transferals, possessing all the described functions, may exist at their own. Specialized ones need to be in a cluster, and play there a specific role: hunter, grazer, technician (medic), protector, etc.
Many Transferals just join the ordinary Transformers.
Regeneration
Many Transferals are capable of self-repair and regeneration. Given the energy and materials, they can reproduce any damaged component (except the processor core) or part of a body. Connected function is reproduction.
Parts usually responsive for regeneration: molecular synthesis camera (uterus), muzzle, tail (atomic welding units).
Reproduction
Producing new mechanisms is a complex procedure, and needs a number of Transferals (5-30).
First of all, a Spark is taken. There is no information about the ways of obtaining it, and whether the Spark is necessary for the process.
The Spark-bearer initiates the production by gathering the Transferals using special signals. Then the special algorithm assigns the parts of future robot to generate to each member (using same mechanism as re-generation), and determines the time needed.
After the determined time, the assigned Transferals gather together again, each with his part (usually there is special cavity to hold the detail), and begin to assemble - both of new parts and the noncritical details of their bodies which they will be restoring later. Some redundancy in the initial algorithm ensures that the result will likely be satisfactory even if some of the assignees will be unable to perform their order.
After the assemblage, the initiator injects the Spark into the new body and turns the new Transferal on.
Altair
Altair (star name, meaning 'who flies' in Arabic) is a fox with a plane transform. He is a universal-type Transferal feeding on organic chemicals (plastic, rubber, spirit, petrol). This scheme is quite efficient where he lives, on a post-war planet used to be industrial, having lots of scrap zones and ruined factories.
Has experience of both cluster member live and solitary.
Under his chest and belly, there are resizable compartments:
- one for storing unprocessed material (food).
- molecular synthesis camera
- two small cargo bays.
Most time, these compartments are retracted (as in drawing), as their use reduces freedom of movement and streamlining. Transportation of organic creatures not supported.
Comments:
1) Perhaps that behavior would be more suitable for rat or hyena... by I am a fox :)
2) It is not curved. It is just drawn so. -.-
3) Short for Altair is Irf. ;)
4) It's cool to fly, but it takes lots of energy. As well as firing lasers.
