When I was a kid, one day my elder sister took some stuff to find me and my brother and told us "Hey! I made a board game, wanna try it?". It's some kind of tactic card game and I only played it once. But I still remember this thing though my brother and sister were forgot it.
Few years later, I just remind that board game by unknown reasons again. I didn't know what the game rule was but I remember few details of those cards. And somehow I want to make that game again.
It sound funny for me right now because I was about 9 at that time.
Did I already had a whole game rules? NO, absolutely NO. I was a silly kid, why did you expect that I can made a full board game rule in less 1 hour? Got this feeling during dinner time and start making these things after dinner.
OK, enough of the prologue.
Did you saw those decrepit cards on the up right? Those are few cards of my first cards of the card game, Aurora Chronicle, the first 9 cards.(btw, they were all repaired with pen once because they are too decrepit) I forgot the sequence, but I pretty sure the left one "Laser eye" was the first one I drew.
If every cards had a number, it must be #0001.
As I said before, I started making these cards with zero clue. I just drew anything which pop up in my mind, most of them came from movie, cartoon and video game I saw recently.
Let's see what we have: Small Soldiers, Godzilla, Courage the Cowardly Dog and...... I guess it was from Crash Bandicoot?
I took these cards out few month ago(they are spreading in many decks) and a feeling let me wonder "Why not redraw them again? What will them look like with my style right now?"
It's really fun to redraw my own old stuff. And I found that I hadn't watch the details of these old cards. You can see how twisted the line is.
They're pretty bad for sure, but you know what, I still very loved these cards. Not just they were my artworks, they also my childhood. They had many memories.
One last thing, for anyone who didn't learn drawing.
It's my personal experience. When learning drawing, if you have earned enough drawing knowledge and experience. You will get a "skill level up". You can make more fantastic artwork with these new skill you got.
BUT, at the same time you will lose something, something that impossible to get it back.
Just like those old cards, it was drawn by myself. But if I want to draw something similar, I cannot do that. I had tried to draw a series which will looks like my old artworks before and it totally failed. I already lose those ability.
I like my own style right now, but sometimes I missed my old stuff, those simple doodle.
