It took me a long while, but I FINALLY finished this! This is my special girl, Palma, the adamant and highly curious chikorita! Chikorita has always been my favorite Pokémon, so of course I chose one for my Sousilver Nuzlocke. I actually soft-reseted to get a female chikorita since I really wanted to name her Palma, and I got one after only 2 resets, yay! Now, I know choosing Chikorita is like choosing hard mode in Johto; several gyms are super effective against plants, and Meganium's movepool is pretty shallow. Even so, she did have her moments; she was indispensable against Whitney, dealt with Pryce's seel and k.o.-ed Clair's Gyarados in 2 moves. She's the heart of the team, and nothing can stop her. (Also, her backstory is way longer than the rest of the team because I am very biased towards her.)

Now onto the backstory: Palma is the result of Professor Elm's new ecological restoration and conservation project. You see, meganiums were native to Alola long ago; they used to be considered sacred, and only the most experienced kahunas could train them. Then the colonization happened, and suddenly everyone outside Alola wanted one as a show of status. Poaching got so bad that the entire meganium line became critically endangered in Alola, and most traditions related to them were forgotten over time.
In modern day, the only specimens alive are all domesticated to such a degree that they are incapable of surviving in the wild without human intervention. Enter Professor Elm, an expert in Pokémon breeding and egg care, with a phd on rare Pokémon abilities. His project consists of breeding a few specially selected meganiums with other grass-type Pokémon known to thrive in the wild, in the hopes of producing chikoritas resilient enough to help repopulate Alola's native populations. Palma is one of the 4th-generation Chikoritas hatched for this project, her mother being a Meganium and her father a Venusaur.
Palma always had a thirst for knowledge and wished to learn everything about the world outside the lab; the problem was that she was the first meganium/venusaur crossbreed that successfully had a strange seed implanted on her. But said seed grew on her tail, not on her back like it would on a Bulbasaur, which was something completely unprecedented and possibly dangerous to her health. And so, Palma lived most of her childhood being monitored and tested inside Elm's lab. Bored out of her mind and feeling isolated from the world.
Until one night, when Magnus sneaked into the Lab with the intention of stealing a Pokémon so he could run away from home. Unfortunately, he had never actually stolen something before, and he was unlucky enough to run into Silver, who had gotten into the lab to steal a Cyndaquil that same night. Magnus hid at the back of the lab, crying and hoping that no one would find him and arrest him, or worse, send him back to his mother. Palma heard him cry from her small greenhouse enclosure and helped him calm down. They talked about the world, the future, and how both of them were lonely and nameless. And so, they decided to become friends and explore the world, to prove that they were good enough to survive, and not to let loneliness consume them.
