Here are the pictures of my Garage where I park my mini van, the before and after.
Well, not quite 'before', I had already done about a day's worth of work at that point.
It took me a while to finish this as mostly I worked in my off hours, when I was not doing other things. Since the AFTER image was taken, I have done a wee bit of sweeping, and I got rid of the brown bag of yard waste.
I actually charged my family for all this work, to the total of $300. This total included a few other things as well, like the cost of gas for driving around getting parts and supplies, dumping charges, a new door lock for the back door, energy saving light bulbs, and a few minor miscellaneous items. Still, I think they got off cheep. It would have cost at least $300 for just the trash removal if I had hired a professional waste removal company.
This probably explains why I spent half of August in bed with the flu...
And I kid you not, no sooner than I had finished, than my brother (who made the bulk of this mess) returned home, and I ended up driving over a glass picture frame that he had dropped on my side of the car port...
Fuck, my family pisses me off sometimes...

Hoarders are hoarders, and entropy loves them.
Great job on the cleanup, I applaud your efforts and risk of personal peril in dragging order back into your corner of the world. It may be something of a Sisyphean task, though, if you're the only family member who cares about neatness, and understands the health/safety hazards involved with junk piles...
(Really impressed were able to haul stuff out/away and sort the rest; my mother pitches a fit if any of us tries to "organize" her piles or even shove enough to one side to carve out a walking path. I won't even park in the "open" side of the garage anymore when I visit b/c the piles of stuff on the other side are almost up to the ceiling and I've got this phobia of being buried alive under an avalanche caused by bumping into a precarious stack of "treasures" as I scoot from my car to the exit... @_@;)

my self-righteous brother with the Oppositional Defiance Disorder would constantly go out there to smoke, right beside my minivan and that pile of garbage, with the tinder dry crap wood my hoarder-father has in the rafters. You can't see it, but its a low garage, being only about 6 foot 6 (maybe).
When ever the family goes away to Alberta, I go to work cleaning up the house, one room at a time. Sadly, I have let my own room fall into neglect and its the next one on the list.
