The bizzare 'physics' of Mystery Dungeons are pretty weird, aren't they? Almost like magic, how those 'dungeons' form and keep changing shape.
Though, there's a thing to be wondered about. Were they always there, those Mystery Dungeons? What about the Pokemon? Were they always there?
Mentioning Life and Containment like that, the easy line of thinking would be to wonder if there's some being or powerful pokemon sealed up there.
I'm going beyond that and wondering if perhaps this whole world is constructed and the world was reshaped into what it is now at some point, along with the people. After all, I know a lot of folks who would totally do that if they could.
I suppose another angle, when it comes to Pokemon and containing life, is Pokeballs...

If magic can be reproduced, it mean there is rules you can map to it, and blur the line between magic and science and get people who have a deep understanding of the field, aka wizard.
Why I am saying that ? because Virmir is...a wirard (duh) ... and has been puzzled several time by the logic this world follow, while he never has been surprised by other magic in his world, only caught off guard.
Just to say than if this is called magic, then it's not in the form as virmir know it.
