This is an old sketch I finished yesterday. The last spot on my team is currently shared by a few different Pokémon, one of which is Kitsune, the Docile Vulpix who is proud of her own power. I was lucky enough to have a fast ball and catch her on the first try. Turns out Vulpix has Roar, and I didn't know that until after I caught her, so I could have easily lost that encounter if I hadn't loved the idea of having Vulpix in a fastball because I liked the colors. (fun fact: In official artwork and in-battle from Generation V onward, the Fast Ball is shown to be red. However, its Bag sprite and Pokémon Global Link artwork are orange, and it appears orange in-battle in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver.) Anyways, in-game Kitsune was pretty useful after I left Cianwood's gym, she soloed the entire steel gym and k-oed Pryce's piloswine, and I got plans for her once I reach Kanto.

Backstory
Kitsune's coloring and personality are the result of years of breeding at the towers of Ecruteak City. The monks, sages, and kimono girls in that city had a tradition of carrying specific Pokémon bred to resemble legendaries; the Pokémon ranged from vulpix to eeveelutions and noctowls. These Pokémon were considered guardians of the towers and would spend their entire lives either performing with the kimono girls at the Dance Theater or meditating with the monks and sages.
Kitsune was one of the few vulpix who didn't meet the prerequisites to be a performance or meditation partner, and as such, she was destined to be given up at a lottery game during the next autumn festival, in hopes that the winds of fate would take her where she was meant to be. But, Kitsune had lived her entire life being told what her destiny was, that she was meant to honor and protect the traditions of Ecruteak City, so the second she realized that all of it was a lie and she was gonna be a consolation prize for some random trainer, she ran away.
And so, Magnus found her lost and scared in the forest a month after she escaped from her old temple. The poor vulpix was hurt and hungry since she had never lived in the wild, and many generations of breeding had made her too docile and domesticated to survive alone, so when Magnus offered her some food and a potion, she took that as an invitation to join the team. In the end, she did find the place she was always meant to be in.
