A couple of portraits of Salem I drew to decorate his bio:

Salem is a cowardly but compassionate witch/werewolf, who has been taken prisoner by space pirates. He gets roped into their adventures due to his magical skills, since he’s too timid to argue- he flees or hides at the first sign of danger though, so he’s not always reliable help. Such cowardice never does him any good though- he has awful luck, so he usually ends up getting into bigger trouble when running from a problem.

He is sweet natured and caring; he likes using his magic to comfort or help people- one of his potions will allow you to re-live a happy memory in your dreams, for example. And in spite of his anger towards the pirates, he saved one of them from a horrible curse because he couldn’t bring himself to let her suffer. He is a friend you can bring your troubles to, equally happy to offer solutions or simply listen, as you wish.

In spite of his compassionate nature, he does have a fascination with dark magic- he records information and instructions pertaining to dark magic in his grimoire. Though he has no intention of practicing it, most people think he’s a shady guy for his interest in it. He also has a liking for historical crime and thanks to his fantastic memory, he can recount murders and scandals of old as stories.
