Went up to the Hamraborg fstival, a sort of block party in what passes for Kopavogi's downtown. There was free food and music, people selling stuff outa their cars, all sorts of bustling and hustling. A pleasant occasion, all told. I particularly liked the old car club that had taken over one of the parking lots. It's not easy to keep these ol' boys running in Iceland's climate!

Yeah salt is the real killer.
Out here in Canada most all the provinces like to salt the hell out of the roads, so you the oldest cars you see are early 2000's But in BC (the west coast) we hardly use salt, so you see TONS of cars from the late 70's all the way up to modern cars. I myself own a 1978 Ford RV (rusty but very sturdy) and me and my mate both own 93 Civic hatch backs (some rust, but great shape for being nearly 20 years old)
Classic cars.. haha come out here in the summer, you will see enough 60s mustangs that you will get BORED of them XD (they are the easiest old car to come across) we actually even got a few cars from the 20s out here that actually work, hell even seen a few model T's, all collector owned and hardly driven cause they cant even reach highway speeds, but still lol
