Heading for the train yard, Watch carried his new bit of cargo over the shoulder opposite of satchel. He counted his money again, before stashing it away. Counting what he had, a meal on the go wouldn’t make a dent in his new fortune. He grabbed two burgers and a large order of fries, and managed to down the first burger before reaching the yard.
While waiting in the lines, a radio played near the counter. There was a news report about missing children. A group of four kids had disappeared while their parents were visiting the city while on vacation. Locals were advised to be on the look out and to call a specific number for the police department.
After the news alert it had gone back to the usual music it would play. Watch’s ears went back when he heard of that; he had been through many painful things, but emotional stuff was some of the worst. He sympathized with those parents. Then his turn came up in line, and he could get his food.
He tried to spot a train that was on a west bound track, but was spotted by one of the workers. The dog howled out about it, and Watch went running for the railways. Trains were already moving around him and security while they ran through them. Watch’s one advantage was he was willing to avoid the safety procedures, but they knew the train yard better than he did. There came a point where Watch was being chased from three directions, and Watch was being led toward a gate way rather than the trains. Instead of heading for the obvious trap, Watch bolted to the left and shoved aside a worker. One of the westward trains was about to leave with a heavy freight and Watch leaped for it, his hands just grabbed the corner to one of the cars, and he had to kick the moving ground a few times before he could get a better grip. He climbed onto the train, his lunch lost when he had to make an escape. He shook his head, this wasn’t a bad enough day for him. Watch climbed inside the train car.
It took a while to pick the lock, but Watch managed to get inside the train car with the cargo, and then settled inside the train like another piece of cargo. Safe at last, and resting, he felt his pocket, the right one had a pair of burner phones. It was tempting to make a call, but he could only make one call on each phone, and he hadn’t had time to buy new ones yet. He moved his hand away, and it fell on the dufflebag he was to deliver. He looked at it for a moment. He was told to deliver it and to not ask questions. It was still really tempting to open it, for the sake of knowing what new mess he had gotten into. He took a deep breath, and moved his hand away. He would keep what he said and not ask questions, but there wouldn’t be anything wrong with trying to figure out what he was smuggling. He moved the bag up against one of the boxes in the car with him, and then patted it a few times, it was soft, and would spring back. It wasn’t something like powder or solid. It at least meant he wasn’t carrying drugs. It even gave the wolf a funny idea, so he laid his head against the bag, and let himself rest on the ride out west.
