Ekahn, near the end of his apprentice days, casting a large-scale portal for the first time, for a mass of his mistress' minions to pass through.
The fox picked up his sorceress master's fashion sense during his time in her service (and, to be fair, he already dressed revealingly beforehand). He ditched the gloves and leggings fringed with the wave pattern she liked, after deserting during a large-scale Adventurers' Guild incursion - didn't need to be wearing something that might get him identified as a minion of a dead villainess - but he still owns the robe itself. It's since been retailored by 'Zil, altering it just to be safe.
The mana tattoos on his ears would come later, shortly before getting hired on as magical support for the Thieves' Guild.
