Great question!
In folklore, Wolf-Drakes crop up every now and then as mysterious and sometimes benevolent creatures, warming lost hunters or taking pity on travelers caught in storms. These are pretty starkly contrasted with the personal tales of the drakes making off with the occasional farm animal, or snapping elk in half with their bite.
A Witch Hunter like Iris would have heard these tales, but her training would have focused more on the physical dangers, such as their bone-crushing bite, talons, and other such features. To them, these dragons are a danger that should be avoided at all costs. At first, Iris is going to see a huge predator first and foremost, not matter how benevolent it might appear.

Ah, that makes perfect sense! So Iris’s worldview would be shaped more by the immediate threat than by the rarer benevolent tales she’d instinctively see the Wolf-Drake as a predator first. I’m curious to see how that tension plays out if she encounters any of the creature’s unexpected kindness later on.
