Original Artwork Pickup - Shon Howell

This isn't my own art, obviously, but I've been getting into buying old, original furry art off people and digitizing it!
I started collecting old comics and folios recently, which led directly to listings for original artwork. I was immediately interested but figured I'd wait a bit to make that jump. However, it was instantly apparent in a few cases that these drawings had been and/or were being subjected to pretty dire conditions. Outside art, I've been working in art and photo preservation for a decade as of this year and have pieced together a pretty proficient home setup for keeping stuff like this safe (I have lots of 1800s/early 1900s family photos, etc.), so I figured I better start making some pickups. This was my very first one.
Art by the late, great Shon Howell, aka
king-cheetah , with some minor digital cleanup by me.
Just as a fun aside, here's a cute reply I got on bsky from Elin Winkler, Owner of Radio Comix (Genus, Furrlough, etc.):
"The story behind Shon Howell's *extremely rare* male art is that coyotedancing.bsky.social (Mel. White) challenged him at a con in the mid/late 80's to draw some, since he was already known for only drawing busty babes, I believe it was presented as "give us ladies some eye candy too!" 😆...
...Mama Mel. (she is Everyone's Con Mom!) never stopped giving Shon playful crap about him not drawing more guys, I was at a con w/them both once & he (also playfully) blew up at her that "THE GUYS DON'T SELL, MEL.! THEY JUST DON'T!!!" XD At the time (early 90's) THEY DID NOT!"
I have a MUCH larger scan of it here (You have to download it to see the full res for some reason lmfao)

With the current trend devaluing human art, and by extension our expression and individuality, its easy to lose sight of what's important, why we as artists create to begin with. I think switching focus to celebrating these older artworks (especially furry artworks that may not seem valuable to the common public) is something we as artists need at this time.
and i applaud your archival of honest-to-dog historical artifacts
