XIII has had a very rough life, having grown up as an experiment inside a facility deep underground. Her caretakers were abusive at the best of times and she had never even seen the sky until she was in her 20s and finally managed to escape the facility. Now she's free but always on the move, afraid to settle down anywhere and be caught by those hunting her.
