Kyte watching a movie but then the "hero" decides to whip out ol' reliable and spare the villain, despite all the fucked up and heinous shit they've done and clearly show no remorse for it, and have no plans on changing for the better anytime soon

I agree to some extent. Obviously heroes need to have a moral compass when doing heroics, but when they start to prioritize their own sense of morality above doing what logic says is necessary, like permanently stopping a irredeemable sociopath, then it becomes less about morality and more trying to uphold their self image.
Heroes are not judge, jury, and executioner. When we let a hero kill someone, we are letting one person make that choice. Sure, everyone agreed that was a bad person. What about the next person the hero thinks needs to go? Should we trust a singular person's instincts and biases to make the decision on which lives need to end?
No matter how you spin it, heroes are people who act outside the law. They are not the police. They are not elected by the people. They are individuals who make the choice to do what they do. While it is for the betterment and protection of mankind, they are still a vigilante by definition.
When you let one person make the choice of taking a life, everyone suffers in the end.
(I know this was just you drawing over the meme, but morality of heroes is a subject I will debate about until the end of time.)
