This is just artwork to show his different phases in the comic.
The first part of the comic takes place in the Middle Ages, but tells a bit about a local legend and how he ends up in a monastery. Edgar has several incarnations and, since time is not linear, sometimes he can feel or even see fragments of his life in other times. "Time doesn't separate them... it only confuses them."
The name ''Edgard'' only appears in this version; later, by coincidence and in other eras, he has the same name.
