I was showing a friend how I like to stylize lagomorphs, placing the ears side-by-side, touching, and placing them further back on the skull than they actually are.
I drew the left one first to illustrate, and I thought it looked like the bunny caught sight of something it wasn't particularly fond of, but knew it'd have to interact with, so it puts on that forced, polite smile.
Made all the better by how unexpectedly...intense a bunny's teeth can be when you forget how they're built.
It came out oddly unnerving and I am living for it! Unnerving bunny is the best bunny!

Nah, I don't think you gotta stay away. You just gotta approach from behind, and hold them like a weapon! Keep pointed at your enemies.
You just have to figure out how to utilize the soul consumption :P
On a serious note, my husband, too, is a lover of bunnies. Though we live out in the US west, so he will let you know that jackrabbits/ the local hares are "jackasses". I digress, I showed him this doodle too and his response was also basically "I did not think I'd ever not like a bunny, but I do not like that bunny. He looks like he'd try to kill you and smile while doing it."
Once it started hitting how...uncanny it was I decided "This is beautiful, I must lean into it" and went "whole hog", as they say.
I may have to try and do a hare variant. We can see if the natural uncanniness of the hare makes is somehow, less or more unnerving.
I will sa, I am glad it reads right XD

That's what it's called! I kept thinking of mentioning "that bunny from 'Monty Python'" but couldn't recall the name. My brain kept going "ROUS/Rodents of Unusual Size" despite rabbits...not being rodents and that being from "The Princess Bride".
So we're on the same page in thinking! Though I'd argue it's the beast itself! We never see his true power after all XD
To practice edge, I used this piece for a 2 value study (sharp edges, focus on shape, just black and white), as you can imagine it makes it all the more terrifying, even the left bun looks weirdly menacing!
