*laughs... it could go in many different ways, but her professor was a time traveler (for lack of many other words we could use). He had witnessed the original, and later related the story to Shakespeare... but now he was there for Trudy, because she was a famous writer to be.
Oh yes - write what you know. If you get a chance to read Mark Twain's autobiography, it is well worth your time. He was, in essence, both Tom Sawyer, and Huckleberry Finn. The stories were from his childhood.

I had an engineering professor who was like this guy. He'd ask you a fairly basic question about an engineering decision, and after about ten minutes you were reconsidering all kinds of life decisions.
Granted, that instructor didn't fade from sight, but his lessons certainly stayed with all of us who took his class!
