A new character to be introduced in the next story in Surudoi's Saga, currently titled "The Hare of Takoda", where in Surudoi helps an old man who's been injured.

If Surudoi was Fox, Russ was Wolf, this is obviously Peppy. Teiko is a the head monk of a nearby monastery, during the period of Shinbutsu Bunri in Meiji Era Japan, in which Buddhism was forced to divest from Shinto temples, whereas the two previously coexisted. Like most hares and rabbits in fiction, he's a bit of a trickster despite his... advanced age. To prevent his temple from being ransacked by the government, he highlights the Shinto practices of his temple like sumo. However, as the sport was declared "barbaric" by American ambassadors, it was put on hold during latter half of the 19th century. Hence why he's putting up more Tori gates (the big red thing behind).

The look of the temple was influenced by Fushimi Inari, a shrine located in Kyoto that inspired the Starfox series, as the many gates, which are often sponsored, made series creator Shigeru Miyamoto think of a ship flying down a long corridor.
