Some parents feel betrayed when they find out their child isn't who they wanted them to be.
Some kids feel betrayed when they find out their parents want them to be something they're not.
There's very clearly a right and wrong in certain situations, of course, but it's always been curious to me how betrayal often begets betrayal.
Story inspired by a memory of some time ago of a kid where I used to work who had confided in me about coming out to his parents.
