“Did you see that?”
Rozy squinted through the fading dust cloud that momentarily shrouded the road from the safety of her mounted metal hog, barely acknowledging Hayfire’s room-temperature observational skills as the fog of war cleared, revealing the crumpled remains of the patrol officer who so diligently tailed them to the very cusp of her jurisdiction on Pothole Plains.
“The bitch must have rolled 10 times, of course I saw that!” Rozy spat, still in disbelief their diligent follower known as Iris Ironhide was still in one piece. Sprawled across the ground with her legs pinned under the crumpled remains of her patrol bike, the Griffon lay in an unconscious heap with much of her uniform in tatters and her helmet utterly shattered. Whether or not she was still alive was anyone's guess.
Hayfire took the hint and shifted her mount into gear, intent on peeling out of there and heading into Pothole plains with no intention of stopping.
“You coming or what?” Hayfire spat, sneering over her shoulder as she throttled the clutch, her motorcycle letting out an angry growl in response to the Diamond Dog who struggled to shake the image of the crash out of her mind.
“Just… just give me a minute, I-I” Rozy stuttered, while Hayfire paid her no mind and took off without her partner in crime.
Not the best idea the Unicorn had, Rozy still had half the fencing material in her carry-on. Rozy was an inch away from gunning the engine of her mount to remind the Pony of that.
If Iris didn’t twitch under the remains of her own ride.
Rozy turned her head on a dime. Iris twitched again, shifting her posture and letting out a concussed snore.
She was alive! Somehow that pothole didn’t snuff her out entirely!
Rozy turned again, catching Hayfire becoming an ever-shrinking dot on the horizon. Then back to Iris and the crumpled remains of her hog, now spilling vibrant gasoline like the guts of a slain beast, inching closer and closer to the shattered headlight that still sparked in its pulverized bulb.
Rozy could have run, she could have gunned the engine and never looked back at the only cop who could ever catch up with the Diamond Dog’s posses. The only copper who ever put in the effort to tail them with invincible motivation.
The only cop Rozy ever respected on a level. And one that was most certainly going to die if she didn’t act fast.
The Diamond Dog bit her lip, dismounting her ride and hitting the sun-beaten road with her heavy treads like they owed her lunch money as she stormed over to the crumpled wreck.
“Up and at em’, Pig! You got a report to half-ass and a dozen donuts to scarf down!” Rozy snarled, hoisting Iris up by the scruff of her tattered uniform and pulled her away from the wreck with all her might, only traveling a few inches as the bike pinning her legs dragged across the asphalt for only a spare inch. Peering over the wreck once more, Rozy scowled at the sight of the Griffons patrol boots now reflecting sunlight thanks to the gasoline now spilling over them. Kicking the patrol officer's bike with a frustrated growl, the Diamond Dog tried again as Iris’ head rolled over in her grip, letting out another raspy groan through her dirtied beak.
Another pull.
Another curse under Rozy’s breath.
“Come on, Come on!” Rozy snapped, dragging Iris further out from the heavy bike as her patrol boots finally peaked out from the battered metal, accompanied by flames that now licked up the shattered engine. “Shit!” Rozy cursed again, the flames responded with a flash of ignition as the flames lapped up the bike and lit it up like a Hearths Warming tree. “SHIT!!” Rozy kicked off the ground with all her might, jettisoning Iris’ legs from the wreck and the two practically tumbled head over heels away from the wreckage as it blew up in a fireball, scattering shrapnel and glass across the road as Rozy shielded her face with the help of her studded leather jacket.
Blinking profusely, Rozy scuffed her knees into the ground as she held up the now safe and sound Iris Ironhide as her mount became nothing but kindly behind them. Her helmet was shattered, her uniform stained and in tatters, her fur was glistening with sweat, but the Griffon was breathing.
Rozy smiled. A genuine one at that. She didn’t even try to hide the blush now running across her cheeks as she began to realize just how attractive that Griffon truly was.
From her shapely hips, to her seductively long legs that pinned her more times then the Diamond Dog was willing to count, to her long patrol boots that were still actively on fire-
“Oh…” Rozy murmured, before double-checking the sight of the leather cracking and sizzling. “-OH-OH HELL!!” Rozy snapped to, kicking and snuffing out the flames with battered whips of her leather jacket.
“Flathooooof…” Iris murmured under her breath as her eyelids shifted. “Turn off the heater…”
“Will do, Toots!” Rozy coyly muttered, finally snuffing out the flames as she surveyed Iris one more time taking note of the incoming sirens that were hastily approaching their position on the opposing horizon from where they came. Iris was safe, and may very well be on the road to recovery. All the more impressive from the state of her bike and the nasty tumble.
Rozy kicked off her knees and turned on her heel, taking one last look at one of the few good deeds she had ever done.
“To the only Cop who could catch up with me…” Rozy tipped a hat she wasn’t wearing. “Until we meet again, Ironhide!
Iris didn’t hear it, or at least Rozy assumed so as she mounted her bike and took off after Hayfire. It didn’t matter. All she knew, the Diamond Dog wasn’t going to let the only worthwhile pursuer in her life go out like a chump.
She also wasn’t going to let the only attractive officer in all of Equestria sizzle out to dry!
One of my fav commissions from https://www.deviantart.com/oneiricnebula a few years back, who went above and beyond on the details! A sequel was even made a few years later which I hope to upload at a later date as well!
