She was the last guardian of an abandoned temple on the lower Nile. Legend has it that her ancestors were the living embodiment of the Temple of Hanubis, responsible for guiding the souls of the dead and guarding its secrets. But three hundred years ago, the temple was swallowed by a sandstorm, and her people scattered. She was the only one left behind, spending her days cleaning the ruins, chanting incantations, and talking to the wind and sand. Until one day, she heard the sound of horses' hooves and the bleating of sheep in the distance, and she left the temple for the first time—"Because if I don't leave, I'll probably turn into a stone statue, as boring as those carved dog heads."
