I don't know what i expected to get from "Boogie Nights" but it certainly wasn't what I got
this day I watched this classic 1997 movie, mostly out of curiosity given that its name is so often brought up, and I can see why people like it so much. It's quite compelling, though in the place i'm in life currently, I do see in quite the different light compared to how i think i would have taken it even some years ago
i think its overall message and themes are quite touching, it just happens to use a setting and subject matter that didn't quite resonate with me, but that's ok. Feels like it's a movie I wouldn't really need to watch more than once, but as I write this, it does make me reconsider. if i truly had gotten all i needed from this movie on first watch, i don't think i'd be pondering on it as much.
this one frame from the movie was seared into my mind. it's strange, it's such a quick moment maybe a second or two, but it really stood out. It's the character "Roller Girl" taking a photo of the main character.
if you have the stomach for more explicit and rough subject matter, would definitely recommend watching this movie. It's one of the classics and I can see why, I often find myself re-considering my opnion on older movies like this. Something about these movies that makes them so rewatchable. They are classics for a reason
