Lisa Daniels, a werewolf from Nebraska, portrayed Lt. Rinurr Grrihan on the original Star Trek series as the Enterprise's Chief of Security. Due to the politicking Gene Roddenberry had to do to get Daniels included in the main cast, Lt. Grrihan never spoke during the series. She sat at her Bridge station and "looked fierce" as one lawyer put it.
That changed when the animated series began in 1973 and, to the delight of her fans, Daniels was finally given a speaking part. Note that "Captain on the Bridge" was not her only line in the series, but this was the first.

Now that you mention it, I remember that tactical armor. I'm glad they did away with that before quick. It looked like it would hinder movement more than protect the wearer and since security might have to move quickly in an eyeblink's amount of time, you don't want them to be hindered.
